AB or able-bodied: someone who is not physically disabled

NT or neurologically typical: someone who does not have a mental disability

ND or neurologically divergent: someone who has a mental disability

NTAB: someone with no disabilities

YD: young disabled (person)

Disabled person: someone excluded from society because of a perceived lack of ability to contribute to the economy

Person with a disability: is the thing you should not call a disabled person

Ableism: bigotry toward disabled people (adjective is ableism)

Devotee: someone who has a fetish for physically disabled people

Spoons: measurements of exertions of energy based on the Spoon Theory

Spoonie: member of a sub–community within the disabled community of people who have a chronic illness and use the Spoon Theory

Cpunk or Cripple Punk: a sub–community within the disabled community of physically disabled people who are proud that they are disabled, have a radical approach to activism, and re-appropriate disabled culture and history

Nupunk or Neuro Punk: a sub–community within the disabled community of neurologically divergent (mentally ill) people who are proud that they are disabled, have a radical approach to activism, and re-appropriate disabled culture and history

Nucpunk: someone who belongs both to the Cripple Punk and theNeuro Punk communities

Mutant: cpunk slang for someone who is born disabled and/or has a congenital disease (inspired by X-Men)

Mutate: cpunk an AB who becomes disabled (inspired by X-Men, used to refer to superheroes who aren’t mutants like the Avengers)

Crip face: when an able-bodied actor plays a disabled character

Inspirational porn: memes or commercial use of disabled people/aesthetic to inspire NTABs

Inspirational cripple: character trope of a disabled person who only exists to inspire NTABs

Bitter cripple: character trope of the disabled person whose life revolves around their anger about their own body; usually used for villains

Miracle cure: narrative plot in which a disabled person becomes able-bodied in order to find happiness

Cure culture: eugenic philosophy that disability should be corrected through cures medically and/or spiritually
